Skyline Drive is a 105 mile scenic national highway that runs along the Blue Ridge mountains in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. The drive offers stunning views of the jagged mountain peaks, verdant valleys with changing hues, seasonal wildflowers, and wildlife. The North District of Skyline Drive is a beautiful and scenic stretch of road that features impressive views of the Shenandoah Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Appalachian Trail. 

The North District of Skyline Drive is the northernmost section of the Skyline drive and is closest to Washington D.C. making it a convenient day trip for travelers. This scenic journey through the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains starts from milepost 0 at Front Royal Entrance station, takes twists and turns along the ridgeline, and ends at milepost 31.5 at Thornton Gap Entrance Station. It takes about 40 minutes to drive from the Front Royal Entrance Station to the Thornton Gap Entrance Station of Skyline Drive. Along this 31 mile beautiful drive, there are numerous overlooks where visitors can stop and admire the breathtaking views.
