Skyline Drive – Central District

Advertisements

Skyline Drive is a 105 mile scenic national highway that runs along the Blue Ridge mountains in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. The drive offers stunning views of the jagged mountain peaks, verdant valleys with changing hues, seasonal wildflowers, and wildlife.

The Central District of Skyline Drive is a beautiful and scenic stretch of road that runs from milepost 31.5 at the Thornton Gap Entrance Station to milepost 65.5 at the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station. It is the heart of Shenandoah National Park, offers great overlooks, many popular hikes, historic sites like Thornton Gap Battlefield and the Swift Run Gap Battlefield, and nice lodges as well as well maintained campgrounds. The Central District is a great place to visit for a day trip or a longer vacation.

These photos are from our visit to Shenandoah National Park on 27th August, 2023.
